Long time no post

Wow it has been awhile since my last post! I really don't even feel like writing this at all. I can't seem to get motivated even a tiny little bit to write, but I have to. My mom died last Sunday, November 16, 2008. This past week I have drove to Florida (yes, 18 hours of straight driving time so about 24 by the time you make stops) and back to make funeral arrangements and go through her things. It is still very surreal. I feel like she is going to call me anytime now just to say hello.
Well guys this is about all I can muster up right now. I will be back in full force soon! Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

Crazy week...

I just realized it's been almost a week since my last post. I didn't even participate in Not Me Monday, which happens to be one of my favorite things to do. It has just been the craziest week I haven't had time to hardly take a shower let alone blog. I plan on writing a long overdue post tonite! Oh and by the way if any of you out there who just happen to stop by and read this post know anything about the spirits/ghosts etc. (I promise I am not loosing it over here) please leave me a comment with a way to get ahold of you. Thanks!!! Happy Tuesday!!!

Not Me Monday!

This week went fast didn't it?! That time again for Not Me Monday....my free weekly therapy!
1. I did not forget my entire list of things I didn't do all week only to sit here in front of the computer for an hour trying to remember them....they were really good I just can't remember them all!
2. I did not use the handicap bathroom at the casino and when I came walking out pretend to limp when someone else saw me. There were two other handicap stalls open, but I still always feel guilty.
3. I did not tell Alex it was time to go to bed because it was 10:30 pm Friday night when it was actually only 9:00 pm. I would never ever do this just because I wanted some peace and quiet. That would be selfish!
Well that's my list for the week! I KNOW there is more but I can't seem to get the cobwebs cleared out to remember them!! Happy Monday!
Make sure you stop by MckMama's site for more great Not Me Mondays!

Prayer Warriors Needed!!!

Prayer Warriors are needed for Stacie and her family. Please take the time to visit her blog and pray for this sweet family. I can't even begin to imagine the pain they are experiencing right now.

The New Neighbor

If you happened to visit my blog and read my Not Me Monday post then you already know I have a new neighbor whom I happen to think is extremely hot. Ok guys, i'm married to a wonderful man who I love more than anything in the whole wide world and he is the hottest thing on earth, but I just so happen to like to look at pretty people. (By the way so does my husband...ya caught him checking out the cute girl who delivered our food at sonic just the other day) My motto is it's ok to look but if you touch then your hand is going to get chopped off! I am also 31 and going through a semi-mid life crisis. I have fat deposits in spots that I used to NEVER have and wrinkles that make me look like a scare crow. God forbid when the gray hair starts to arrive! Oh and did I mention that a "hot" night out on the town consists of McDonald's and whatever kid movie that's showing at our local theater? So you know for me to look at the hot neighbor well it makes me feel young again. I wouldn't trade my life now for anything but I think everyone feels this way sometimes? Don't they? Oh hell maybe it's just me....
When I say neighbor I mean it. He practically lives in my back yard. You see our house (which we currently rent) is connected by this little strip of stuff to his house. When I sit on my back porch I can see his bathroom....with no curtains. I DID NOT look....
He has only been our neighbor now for about a month. We have talked to him a handful of times and he comes across as a super nice person. However, I really don't want to talk to him much. I want him to remain the mysterious man I know nothing about. I think all of you know why. Have you ever met that "perfect" guy who just couldn't get any cuter?? Then he opened his mouth and you about puke because he was such an idiot?? I think everyone can relate to this.
So the other day my husband and I were pulling out of the driveway to take Alex to the Church fall festival when I noticed that Mr. Neighbor's dog had managed to break one of his bedroom windows. I was like oh wow I HAVE to go let him know so his dog doesn't get hurt....I obviously didn't think things through very well. I was just thinking oh boy I get to go say hi!!! It was only after I had knocked on his door (which of course he answered) that I realized I looked like this:

Yes....a blooming idiot.

I got to thinking today what if he or one of his friends/family members just happens to stumble upon my blog? If I can find a picture of him on the Internet in two minutes then it is possible for that to happen. How mortifying would that be? He would either be flattered or think i'm the crazy stalker lady that lives in very close proximity. More than likely he will think i'm crazy and go to our local police station and promptly file a protective order! Maybe I can blame it on old age, fat deposits and scare crow wrinkles?

Wordless Wednesday!

I just so happened to stumble upon this picture of my ridiculously hot neighbor on the internet....am I borderline stalker? Maybe. I just couldn't figure out how to get a picture of him without just coming right out and asking. Timing just wasn't right. You can refer back to my Not Me Monday post if you are just now tuning in. (Oh and yes my dh does know I think he's a cutie and humors me)
Happy WW!
Tune back in tomorrow for a longer post about mystery man!

Awesome giveaway!

Ok this has got to be one of the coolest giveaways I've seen to date! My son would absolutely love this....heck so would I. We LOVE to go on "secret" missions around this house and these night vision goggles would be so cool to have. If you want to enter to win head over to Deal Seeking Mom's blog http://www.dealseekingmom.com/

Not Me Monday!

I can't believe it's already that time again! Here are all of the things I did NOT do this past week.

1. I did not try to staple the strap back together on my purse that broke. That would be kinda ghetto fabulous!
2. I was not too cheap to just go buy a new purse
3. I did not pretend to still be asleep Saturday morning so DH would get up and make breakfast for Alex
4. I did not play hookie from work....I did not tell my boss that Alex was sick.
5. I am not worried that he will find out!!
6. I do not think my new neighbor is ridiculously hot. I did not try to find every excuse in the world to knock on his door just so I could see him!
Please make sure to stop by MckMama's site (the original founder of Not Me Monday!) athttp://www.mycharmingkids.net/.
Happy Monday!!

I've been tagged!!

I have been tagged by Melissa over at http://theyaremyeverything.blogspot.com/. Thank you Melissa!! I am suppose to list 7 random things about my kitchen which may be a challenge because it is so small. I mean extremely small, but i'm going to give it my best shot. So here we go!
1. This is my oven....my very SMALL oven. Seriously when we first looked at this house I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw how small it was. I have seen Easy Bake Ovens that are bigger! Oh and to make it even better when you pull the oven door open the whole freakin oven comes forward! We are just renting our home right now so I guess I have to deal with it for now. Let me just tell you I dream of big beautiful ovens all of the time!!

2. Here is my refrigerator, which seems to collect lots of art. I had a hard time getting this shot because the kitchen is ummm not very roomy.

3. Below is a picture of the shelving that is above our tiny stove. I actually love this little cubby hole! We have turned it into our spice/whatever else we use all of the time rack.

4. I happen to really like this decorative thing (I don't know what it is!).

5. My husband planted this out of a seed packet he bought at Wal Mart...I have no idea what it is called. Anyway as you can see it is starting to climb up wall and will soon take over.

6. This is our lovely door bell....that's pretty much all I have to say about that!

7. Last but certainly not least here is my kitchen. Yes, I no I need to put up my dishes and wash the dirty one's but we had just got done with lunch and of course blogging was more important!!

Well there you are guys that is pretty much my entire kitchen in a nutshell!
I am tagging!

R.I.P Mr. Jingles

I am sad to say our cat Mr. Jingles is now in kitty heaven. Mr. Jingles has only been a part of our family now for a couple of months, but he will be missed dearly. What an emotional evening it has been. Let me go back in time to Monday at about 11:30 p.m. Mr. S and I are sitting inside when all of a sudden we hear our cat making this horrible sound. We figured he was getting into a fight with a fellow neighborhood cat so we run out to intervene. We couldn't have been more wrong as to what was going on. We just so happen to live next door to people who own a pit bull. Now nothing against people out there who own pit bulls, but I just so happen to really dislike them. However our neighbors dog is not so bad. He just happens to HATE cats. Somehow our cat ended up in their yard. Big misake. Now why Mr. Jingles went into their yard I have no idea. He definitely knew better. Maybe he got confused or maybe he was just curious. Our neighbor was able to get his dog off of our cat before he tore him to tiny shreds, but damage was done. We brought Mr. Jingles inside to survey the damage. I don't know what was more sad the cats injuries or our precious little weenie dog Hammie. Hammie was so upset. From the moment we walked in the door with the cat Hammie was hysterical. He was barking and crying and running in circles. This went on for the next three hours. Yes I said THREE hours. He finally stopped crying around 2:30 a.m. and fell asleep out of pure exhaustion. I have never seen anything like it before in my life. Mr. Jingles was doing ok for the most part. His right back leg was obviously broken and we weren't sure if he might have internal bleeding. We decided that the next morning my husband would take him to our vet on the way to work. So the following morning I anxiously ran into the bathroom to see how Mr. Jingles was doing (all the while praying he was still alive) and found a very tired but ALIVE cat. Mr. S ended up going to work for a little bit because the vet wasn't open. Now how the next events transpired i'm not too sure. All I know is somehow the cat got loose and ran off. How in the world does a cat who can barely walk run away? We still have no idea. Mr. S looks all day for the cat but has no luck. As soon as I got off work we started our search party.....we even brought Hammie along hoping he could find him with his great sniffer. Still no luck. It started to get dark so we decided to head home. We all pretty much figured that the cat had wondered off to die somewhere (we still were not sure if he had internal bleeding). Okay so that was Tuesday and it is now Thursday. In between now and then a cold front has moved in and it has been raining pretty much non stop. Around 1:00 p.m. today my husband calls me and says "I found the cat and he's ALIVE!" What? Where? When? How? WTF? I couldn't believe it! Mr. Jingles had managed to walk/drag himself into the cow pasture (yes there were several cows walking around him....one even walked up and smelled him) next to where my husband works. His back leg was really swollen and the poor thing looked like he had been to hell and back but he was ALIVE. What a will to live he had. I really was willing to do anything to give this cat a shot at life. He obviously wanted to live. So off to the vet we go! The vet was really surprised he had made it this long and an even bigger surprise was he had no fever and obviously no internal bleeding just a broken leg. It was really infected though and the break was so bad it couldn't be reset. She told us his leg would have to be amputated for any hope of survival. She felt though that he had a good chance and that cats lived all of the time with three legs. Ok great lets do it! I mean I knew it would be expensive, but I really was willing to do anything. Here's the kicker....they had to have the money tonite right then and there before they would do anything. Not next week when we got paid. Not even in the morning. Oh and did I mention it was $750. Oh yea we have that just sitting around. I can't tell you how much frustration I felt at that moment in time. I wanted to scream and cry and throw things. I wanted to rip her stupid head off. I even offered to give her my cat if she would just save it. Just SAVE my very ALIVE cat who had just made it 2 days out in the cold rain with basically his two front legs working. Then to make things worse Alex started to sob. I'm really angry now. Then I start crying hysterically because my baby is crying. I'm thinking why can't you just give us until the morning to find the money? Of course by this time it's already too late to go to another vets office. We could have left and taken the cat home, but the poor thing was in so much pain it just wouldn't have been right to do. Plus there is no guarantee we would have been able to come up with that kind of money in 12 hours. Plus there was not even a guarantee that the surgery would have worked. The vet was concerned that the infection might have spread throughout his body and his organs might be shutting down. I personally think she was just telling me this to make me feel better about having to put my very much ALIVE cat to sleep. To sleep is just what we had to do. I don't feel better knowing he is "out of his misery." I feel like total dog shit. I'm pissed that today I had to make a decision that made my child(hell my whole family) so sad and hurt so bad just because I didn't have enough money. Money money money. That is all it is about. There is no compassion. None. (My logic tells me the vet has to make money and can't just do work on the hopes that a person will pay) HOWEVER i'm not very logical right now! I'm angry, sad, frustrated and tired.
I stayed with Mr. Jingles while they put him down and Alex waited in the waiting room with dad. Then we headed to the shop where Mr. S works and buried him near that cow pasture. R.I.P Mr. Jingles....I know he is now free and running with all four legs in Kitty Heaven.

Puke puke go away and never come again!!

My poor little guy is sick today. I got the dreaded call from the school this morning after I had been at work maybe 45 minutes. This is how it went....
Nurse: Hello is this Andrea?
Me: Yes, this is she
Nurse: I was just calling to let you know Alex has thrown up at school
Me: Oh no is he ok? (I'm thinking damnit why couldn't it of happened before I drove all the way to work?!)
Nurse: He's ok for now. I asked him what he had for breakfast and he said he only drank milk because his stomach hurt.
Me: Yes he said it hurt this morning, but I thought maybe he was just trying to get out of going to school (He's been known to do this)
Nurse: Well then I asked him what he had for dinner last night.....his answer was projectile vomit.
Me: Oh wow...i'm on my way(all the while i'm having to hide my fits of laughter that he had exorcist style vomit all over the school nurse!)

So now i'm at work with a sick child and all I really want to do is take him home. I hate having to bring him to work with me while he is sick. I no he hates it too. He wants nothing more than to just be in the comfort of his own home laying on the couch with mom snuggling. Ok snap back to reality. I HAVE to work otherwise I run the risk of losing my job. The entire car ride back to work I was thinking how can I be a SAHM and still make money? I'm not sure what the answer to that question is but I have to figure it out. I am so tired of missing out on things with my child to come to a job that I really don't like. I am tired of missing out on field trips at school, picking up my child everyday and the list could go on all day. So my new mission is to try to figure out a way to stay at home and make a little money too. I will let you know when and if I get it figured out!
So for now i'm just praying that the little stomach virus doesn't visit too long and that it doesn't spread throughout the entire family!

Contest Winner!!

I would like to give a big congrats to the Prachar family for winning the Thursday Contest!! Please take a minute to visit her blog http://pracharfamily.blogspot.com/. Even though only one person entered the contest it was still alot of fun! I had so much fun with it I have decided to keep doing them every once in awhile!

Contest Thursday!

UPDATE: Please don't forget to enter the contest!!
I thought it would be so much fun to do a contest! Everybody likes a contest don't they? I know I do! It honestly doesn't even matter to me what I win! I just like to win something. I also love to give things away!
Okay, onto the contest. I will be giving away a small gift package for you ladies out there (or for you guys to give to the lady in your life). All items
are brand new from Colors on Main a woman's boutique, which i'm sad to say had to shut its doors over the summer.

It includes: (pictured above)
1) Plump your Plucker Lip gloss - Strawberry Shortcake. This lip gloss is wonderful! It not only helps dry/cracked lips it also looks great. This shade has a lite pink tint to it and can either be worn by itself or over another shade of lipstick. I have tried just about every shade they have and just love it! Great for all occasions and it actually does give your lips a fuller look. Very small change, but I could tell a difference.
2) One bracelet - green crystal

3) One ankle bracelet - clear crystal
4) Candle - Medium size decorative candle
Here are the rules (don't worry there aren't many.)

  • Leave a comment on this post. It can be about anything. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your family, your blog, about life in general or just say hello.
  • If you would like an extra entry (2 all together) write a little blip about this contest on your blog and insert a link back to my blog. (Please let me know you are going to do this when you leave your comment)

Not Me Monday!

It's my favorite time of the week again!! Yes, Not Me Monday!!
1. I did not get excited when I won a blog award and I did not go around telling EVERYONE....and people did not look at me crazy like so what?

2. I have not blogged at work everyday this week...sometimes for a few hours at a time. No that would be really unprofessional and might even cost me my job if discovered.

3. I did not keep telling my son "in just a minute" when he kept asking me to come play a game with him... I was not blogging when he asked me this. I would never blog instead of spending quality time with my child. I did not keep on blogging even when he said "Mom you are ALWAYS on the computer!." I did not pretend I just didn't hear him say that

4. I did not go to the casino three nights in a row after Alex went to bed. I did not leave my hubby at home with Alex while I went out and had fun! I did not spend money we didn't have to spend.

5. I did not keep putting money in those stupid slot machines thinking the next spin would be the jackpot only to lose alot of money. I did not loose any money!!!!

6. I don't want to go to Las Vegas....(hint hint Mr. S)

7. I did not get really annoyed with someone who called the office and hang up on them and then pretend we lost the connection when they called back a few minutes later.

8. I did not get frustrated with Alex when he said he would vote for Obama if he could vote. He is only 7 and that would be silly.

9. I did not wear my size 8 pants to work knowing full well when I put them on that morning they were too tight. I did not wear a long shirt to cover up the tightness and I did not have to unbutton my pants after lunch because they were unbearable. I absolutely did not blame my "weight gain" on PMS....no it couldn't be those McDonald's cheeseburgers. No way!!
Whew I feel so much better! Happy Not Me Monday Everyone!! Please remember to stop by the founder of Not Me Monday- McMama's site!
Please don't forget to go check out my contest!!

New Blog Design!

Just a little while ago I won the blog makeover contest held by Momdot.com http://www.momdot.com/. I can't tell you just how excited I was to win this contest....my blog was in desperate need of a makeover. The google template was great and all, but I just wasn't feeling it anymore. I wanted something much more personal and unique. I got just what I wanted. Let me tell you Becky at Creative Blog Design http://creativeblogdesigns.blogspot.com/ did such a wonderful job. I just love it!!! She was so professional and was willing to create anything my little heart desired! So if you guys are in need of a new blog design please visit her website. You won't be disappointed!

Are some things better left unsaid?

I have something that I really need to get off my chest. I don't know maybe it's better left unsaid, but at this point I really don't care. I don't care who reads this(i'm sure none of my readers will care what I say). I don't care if when they read it they get mad or offended. I don't care if this person happens to be a family member. I guess you guys are getting the picture that I just don't care anymore. Have you ever met someone that is self centered? That doesn't care about anyone but themselves even when it comes to their own child? Can you imagine knowing two people like this? I'm not going to go into specifics about how I know these people (really long and gritty story) lets just say they are family by marriage. I will not disclose real names but for the purposes of this post I will refer to them as Mr. X , Mrs. X and Baby X. The past three almost four years they have lived at home with Mr. X's parents rent, utility and grocery free. Yes I said free. Now don't get me wrong if someone is having a hard time and needs a little help for awhile I see absolutely nothing wrong with this. However, if you have two capable adults with full time jobs who take advantage of the situation that is a whole other story. Did I mention they make over $3,000 a month????!!!! Not only do Mr. and Mrs. X live in this house rent/bill free they also expect Mr. X's family to watch Baby X for free not only while they work but while they play too. Let me tell you there is just as much playing as there is working. A child, in my opinion, is a gift from God and that gift can be taken away just as quickly as it was given to you. I can not imagine not wanting to spend time with my child. I love every minute of it! Of course we all need a break here and then, but not everyday. Can you imagine missing out on the first word, first steps, first everything??? I surely can't that is why this hole situation boggles my mind. It is hard enough to comprehend how two people can expect to live somewhere indefinitely for free let alone neglecting their child. Emotional neglect is exactly what is happening here. He is taken well care of don't get me wrong, but a child needs his/her parents. They need that special bond that can't be replaced by anyone else. The craziest part about all of this is Mr. X's parents feel exactly what I am typing but they say nothing. Absolutely nothing. They just let it happen and then call us and gripe about it. I've been hearing this for 3 years now and can take no more. A part of me feels like it's none of my business and I should just stay out of it and the other part of me wants to start WW III. I don't know maybe a certain person will stumble upon this blog and get the freakin picture! Until then I guess I will keep my mouth zipped because it may cause more trouble than it is worth. Anyone out there ever been in this situation before??

Here is just one of the many many examples of how my little weenie dog Hammie likes to destruct things in our house.

I caught him in the act chewing up Alex's stuffed animal

What mom i'm not doing anything....

I promise I won't EVER do it again....

Did I hear you say Daddy left his shoes on the floor??!

Last but not least....the final mess!

Picture Day!

I stumbled upon these pictures on my computer last night! I can't believe Alex was ever this small!!

Not Me Monday

My favorite time of the week is here yet again!

1. I did not let Alex stay up till midnight Friday night just because I wanted to spend time with him...no that is way too late.

2. I did not get excited when I realized he was going to sleep in Saturday morning because he stayed up so late.

3. I did not have to rewash one load of laundry 3 times because I forgot about it for a few days.

4. I did not find myself arguing with Alex while playing a video game with him. That would be really immature.

5. I did not stop at a garage sale Saturday and buy a bunch of stuff I don't need....after I had just had a garage sale the same day to get rid of all of the junk in my house.

Hope everyone has a great Monday!! Please stop by McMama's site and read all of the Not Me Monday posts!

Mom what are you doing?

So the other night I got a second wind and decided I was going to do a little cleaning. I don't know what came over me....I was actually looking forward to cleaning. I must have been sick. Just so happens its getting close to Alex's bedtime so I knew I needed to hurry if I was going to get anything done in his room. I chose to just vacuum his room and save the rest for another time. Considering it looked like WW III in there, I knew there was no way I could get it all done. He tries to help clean his room but we all know how that goes. Alex was already in bed but not asleep so I hurriedly went in there and started vacuuming. He of course is looking at me like i'm crazy. I must have looked pretty strange flying around his room with the vacuum.
Our conversation went something like this....

Alex: Mom what are you doing???

Me: Honey, i'm vacuuming. What do you think i'm doing?

Alex: (laughing) I don't know...

Me: What do you mean you don't know? I'm vacuuming.

Alex: (he's silent for a few seconds) Mom, is there someone coming over that I don't know about?

Then I realize the only time I clean like a crazy woman is when someone is coming over to visit. I just started laughing. It's times like these that make me realize my child pays attention to EVERYTHING I do good and bad. Wow. The bad things....you know like saying bad words when I'm driving. Then I had a flash forward. I could just see my precious Alex all grown up and married with a family of his own......flying around the house with a vacuum cleaning like crazy because mom is coming over to visit!

Happy Friday!!

Tasty Thursday - Halloween Fun!

I made something similar to this last year for my son. He love spaghetti and Halloween so it was ALOT of fun. It didn't turn out quite as cool looking as the picture below, but hey what the heck I tried! Everything I do right now is still cool to Alex so I can't mess up! Oh only if it would stay that way....
Enjoy!
RECIPE INGREDIENTS:
2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 1/2 cups seasoned bread crumbs
2 tbsp. ketchup
2 eggs
1 tbsp. fresh basil or 1 tsp. dried
1 7-oz. jar pimiento-stuffed olives
1 26-oz. jar prepared pasta sauce
1 lb. spaghetti
1 tbsp. olive oil
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix the ground beef, bread crumbs, ketchup, eggs and basil in a large bowl. Using the meat mixture, form about 30 small meatballs. 3. To make the eyeballs, press an olive into each meatball, pimiento side out. Place the eyeballs in a baking dish, cover with the pasta sauce, and bake for 45 minutes. 4. Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti in boiling salted water. Drain and rinse the spaghetti and toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil to prevent strands from sticking together. Put it on a platter or in a large serving bowl. 5. Spoon the eyeballs onto the spaghetti, irises up, and spoon the pasta sauce around them. Makes 10 servings.

This recipe can be found on the http://www.familyfun.com website.

Not Me Monday

It's my favorite time of week again... Not Me Monday!! This is my second week to participate and let me tell you it has been a blast!

1. I did not work on this list off and on all week long adding or changing things each day...that would be nerdy.

2. I did not tell Alex to go play because he was reading my list.

3. I did not sit on the couch watching Dancing with the Stars while the dishes were piled in the sink.

4. I did not let Alex eat whoppers for an after dinner snack. That would just be unhealthy.

5. I absolutely did not yell obscenities AGAIN at the lady who almost pulled out and hit my car. I did not forget Alex was in the car listening to my bad language and then only realize he was there when he started laughing at me. No that would be really bad parenting.

6. I did not let Alex help me with this list since he would not go play and wanted to read everything. Is a 7 year old really qualified to help make a Not Me Monday list??

7. I did not spend way too much money at the fair this weekend and then go home and justify it to my husband.

8. Last but not least I did not get really disappointed when McMama said she was going on a blog vacation! No i'm not addicted to her blog!!

Hope everyone has a great week!!
Make sure you go check out McMama's site. She is the founder of Not Me Monday's and has a wonderful blog!

Friday ramblings...

I am so glad it's Friday. It has been an exceptionally long week for some reason. I don't really have any organized thoughts for today so I'm going to make a list. I love lists!!

* Alex had picture day yesterday. He actually had an opinion this year on what he wanted to wear. He DID NOT like what I had picked out and made sure I clearly understood his dislike.

* He picked out a shirt that I didn't like so much, but that's ok I let him wear it anyway. I was just proud he had an opinion and wasn't afraid to express it! He even helped me pick out his background and pose. :) He's growing up right before my eyes!

*We are going to the fair this weekend! I am really looking forward to spending time with my family and friends. Oh and did I mention we have lots and lots of free ride tickets?! Makes it even better.

*I may have to bite the bullet and get a new (or shall I say used) car. I'm really not happy about this considering I have NEVER in 15 years of driving had a car payment.

*I HATE my current car more than anything.

*I HATE cars period. Way overrated.

*Oklahoma's public transportation is non-existent. Why is everything sooo spread out here?

*Last but not least I can't wait for 5 to get here! TGIF!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Irrational fear

Every year on the 1st of October I have to make a trip to the tag agency to renew my car tag. Every year I come closer and closer to having a full blown panic attack right in the middle of the tag office while I'm waiting on my little colored sticker. Which by the way is really ugly this year. Who picked brown?? I have no idea why I get this way. It really is irrational. As soon as I walk in the door I start to feel nervous. I sign in and then pick a seat anxiously waiting for my name to be called. Finally my name is called and I walk up to the poor lady behind the counter. I let her know what I need, hand over my insurance stuff and then go sit back down to wait again. This is when it gets really bad. My hands start to shake and my breathing becomes quicker. What the heck is going on?? I have NO IDEA!!! FINALLY she calls my name once again and I go up to get my really expensive sticker. I say thank you and bolt out the door and once again I'm fine. Back to my normal self. So I put that little sticker on and get the heck out of that place knowing I don't have to go back for another year. However, this year my license expires so I will be making another trip in January. I'm sure my picture will turn out so nice don't you think?

Not Me Monday

I stumbled upon this blog a few weeks ago (see the Not Me Monday link on the left side) that was so uplifting and fun to read. She has started a fun little thing called "Not Me Monday." It is actually very therapeutical and just plain fun!! So please join in on the fun!

1. I did not eat an entire bag on Milan cookies in one day

2. I absolutely did not let Alex go to school this morning without taking a shower and smelling a tid bit like a combination of outdoors and sweat.

3. I do not read this one in particular blog religiously (not naming names/blogs) and then go home and talk about them to my friends and hubby like I ACTUALLY no them when in fact they don't even no I exist.

4. I did not leave my dirty clothes on the floor and walk around them for at least two days like they were not even there. I did not step on them either...

5. I did not cuss at the man driving in front of me who was driving too slow...oh did I mention Alex was NOT in the car with me to hear the obscenities??

6. I did not take an extra ten minutes at lunch today even though I knew it was time to go back to work.

7. I do not wait to the last minute to get things done even if I have had months to prepare..no not me

8. I did not tell Alex he could skip brushing his teeth just one night because I was exhausted

9. I did not spend fifty dollars at Walgreen's on cleaning supplies and then go home and tell my husband I only spent twenty.

10. I did not blog at work!!

Have a great Monday!!

Feeling Much Better!!

I am feeling so much better compared to last week. I have to admit it got pretty scary. Thanks to those who commented! I don't get a whole lot of comments so therefore it's always kind of exciting when I do....yes that may be slightly on the dorky side but oh well. This whole blogging thing is so much fun and has honestly become quite addicting. I can't wait for five to get here...yes I am blogging at work and a big OH WELL to that. Please don't forget to pray for the Smith Family. For those of you who don't know their precious son Gavin was diagnosed with brain and spinal cancer six months ago.
I guess I should get back to work! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Needing advice from our readers!

Okay I really don't no if I have ANY readers out there. Of course I would like to think I do, but i'm not really sure. Anyway, I am needing some advice. I had a blister form on my foot about three weeks ago. I get blisters ALL of the time so this was nothing new. So last Sunday I started running a fever and had developed a rash. By Monday my fever had disappeared but my rash was still there and had gotten much worse. So I went to the doctor and he said it looked like Poison Oak, gave me some steroids and sent me home. Did I show him my blister?? NOPE! I honestly thought it was no big deal. HUGE MISTAKE!!!! So by Tuesday night I am running a fever again and my whole body hurts. By Wednesday my fever tops 104 and I can barely walk without assistance. It was pretty scary!! Turns out that pesky blister got infected which spread up my leg. My doctor prescribed me some very strong antibiotics and rest of course. I am much better today, but this is where the advice comes in. It is Friday and we are getting ready to hit the weekend (I despise ER visits especially on weekends oh and did I mention I currently DO NOT have medical insurance?!) and my leg is in a lot of pain. I feel so much better but my leg hurts and the redness is now turning to purple. It almost looks like bruises going up my leg. Has anyone ever had this happen???? Should I be worried? Do you know of any home remedies? Will it just go away over time? I would really appreciate any advice out there. Thanks! Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

You can be a fruit

So last night Mr. S and I were trying to get Alex to go to bed. For some reason it was a HUGE challenge. He was just hyped up from the get go and would not settle down. On nights like these he always wants me to lay down with him until he falls asleep. Not that I don't love to cuddle with him but 1) We are really trying to work on the sleeping by yourself EVERY night thing and 2) last night I had a lot of housework to get caught up on. We were trying to explain all of this to him but it just wasn't working. He has an argument for every word we say. I can see the little wheels just turning in his head as we laid there. I read him a story and was getting ready to get up and give the final kiss goodnight and tuck him in bed when he starts pleading for me to stay. This is how the conversation went....
Mr. S: "We were leaving and you are going to bed like a "big" boy."
Alex: "You can go but momma stays."
Mr. S: "No, if I go momma goes because we are a pair and work together as a team." (we are really working on this team thing cause he likes to work us.)
Alex: WITHOUT hesitation "Ok you can be a fruit....but momma stays."
Now how do you not laugh at that? We are trying to be so serious and stick to our guns and he makes a joke! Little turkey! It was actually a proud mom moment for me because I think that is the first "real" joke he's ever made and it did really make us laugh. It's moments like these that you never have the video camera out for. Oh well maybe there will be many more jokes to come!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Say what?!

This past weekend while we were camping Alex and I decided to take a break from the outdoors and play his gameboy in the camper. We were laying on the bed and I was playing pac man while he watched. Out of the blue he says "Mom, what does lesbian mean?" Hmmm...wow botta bing botta bang....pac man is dead and mom is choking. Not that I have a problem explaining all of this kind of stuff to Alex. I would rather he hear it from me than from some kid on the playground at school. I just wasn't expecting that question to come out of his mouth at that moment in time so matter of factly. So I proceed to tell him about lesbians (of course the rated G version) and explained to him the difference between homosexual and heterosexual. I tried to keep it as simple as possible but with every answer there are ten more questions. Of course every time I said "same sex" or "opposite sex" or anything that had the word "sex" in it little fits of laughter came from his belly. The word "sex" is just hilarious to him and of course he KNOWS what it means! He really doesn't but he sure thinks he does!!! I'm sure that talk will come next!
On that note i'm signing off for the day. Here are a couple of pictures from Alex that really show how much he has changed the past two years.

Alex at the park. He was 4 years old in this picture.

Here is Alex at the park....3 years later at age 7. Wow what a difference a few years makes!

Fun at the Spring!

This weekend we had so much fun together as a family. It was actually the first time ALL summer we had gone to do something just the three of us. We had decided early last week that we were going to go camping at the Spring, which is a natural spring that is in the middle of nowhere. We borrowed Mr. S uncle's pop up camper and headed out there. When I say middle of nowhere I really mean it. There isn't even a bathroom, much less anything else, within a 1 mile radius. Friday night was very interesting to say the least. I don't think we fell asleep till about 2 in the morning because of all of the wild animals we kept hearing outside. At one point it sounded like the Coyotes were right outside the camper.....I think our imaginations were going hog wild!! Both Saturday and Sunday we spent the entire day down at the Spring swimming and playing. We found clay in the water and spent hours digging it up and building a dam. It was just pure clean fun! The dogs even had a good time! Hammie loved chasing the crawdads and Lucky liked jumping in the water. We can't wait to go back again soon!

Alex is getting ready to jump off the big rock into the Spring

There he goes!!!

Here he is eating (rather starring) at the HUGE piece of watermelon
Now that is how you eat watermelon!!
